Madill Equipment Canada

Madill Equipment Canada (“Madill”) was a manufacturer and distributor of forestry equipment products primarily servicing the forestry and logging industry on the west coast of North America. When fully operational, Madill had approximately 200 employees, including approximately 120 members of the United Steelworkers of America union.

Madill’s main production facility and head office were located in Nanaimo, British Columbia. It also distributed its products from Nanaimo, as well as from leased distribution centres located in Prince George and Kamloops, British Columbia, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Kalama, Washington and Eugene, Oregon.

We were retained by the Company’s two senior lenders to assess the viability of the business and, subsequently, to assist with a divestiture process. In order to effect the divestiture plan, receivership proceedings were commenced in Canada, which were recognized as a foreign main proceeding by the US Bankruptcy Court in Washington State under Chapter 15 of Title 11 of the United States Code.
