Bio

Known for his calm and personable demeanour, David quickly puts clients at ease by focusing on the critical details to understand and help navigate complex restructuring and insolvency matters. David thrives on the forward-looking and transactional nature of his work and strives to exceed his clients’ expectations with every exchange.

David Sieradzki, Managing Director of KSV, is a Chartered Accountant, Licensed Insolvency Trustee and a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional. David’s high standards and smart, easygoing nature are on display in his frequent dealings with debtors, secured creditors and other stakeholders in formal and informal insolvency proceedings.

He has been involved in numerous restructuring proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and has significant experience in cross-border mandates under the United States Code.

Agile and versatile, David acts as consultant, receiver/manager, monitor and information officer in a broad range of matters. He has significant experience in solvent company wind-up proceedings under the Canada Business Corporations Act and the Ontario Business Corporations Act, including acting as court-appointed liquidator in the wind-up proceedings of Legumex Walker Inc. and Diversinet Corporation.

David routinely performs viability assessments on a variety of distressed businesses, including in the forestry, film, retail, construction, automotive and technology industries. David has advised and led some significant and complex restructuring mandates, including Hollander Sleep Products, Forme Development Group, RB Energy, Discovery Air, Eddie Bauer, Tricon Films & Television, DragonWave, Arxx Building Products, Destinator Technologies and countless others.

David received his Honours B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and now is an annual guest lecturer in the bankruptcy law class of Osgoode Hall and the University of Toronto. He has been a speaker at various insolvency conferences, including for Lexpert, Insolvency Institute of Canada, CAIRP and Law Society of Upper Canada. In 2018, he was admitted as a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, which recognizes Canada’s leading insolvency practitioners.

David is a unique blend of “passionate gymnastics, dance and hockey dad” and a skilled negotiator. Well known as a team player and an easy guy to work with, David enjoys and appreciates the professional relationships he has forged over his career. He especially enjoys working with lawyers and taking the time to understand the legal implications of his work (maybe because he’s an avid Law & Order fan and one of his favourite movies is The Firm).
