The United States shut down its border to imports of Canadian beef after BSE was discovered in a cow in Canada. The Canadian cattlemen initiated a claim pursuant to Chapter 11 of the North American Free Trade agreement claiming unfair treatment under the Minimum Standards and Favored Nation clauses (among others). We were retained by the Cattlemen’s Association to quantify the financial loss to the Canadian industry from the border closure. The matter has been resolved.
