We were retained by the board of a publicly traded portfolio investment company to provide valuation assistance in the context of a strategic investment review. The company held a portfolio of 20+ controlling and minority interest investments in cannabis, hemp and CBD companies in Canada, the United States and internationally.
We prepared a valuation report setting out our opinion of the fair market value of each of the portfolio investments. Our analysis included reviewing and assessing financial models for the portfolio companies, researching regulatory environments in relevant jurisdictions, review of complex purchase and sale agreements and assessing the value of various classes of securities held (i.e. options, warrants, shares, convertible instruments).
