We were retained to provide a valuation of a privately held Canadian automotive dealership group in the context of a shareholder dispute. The dealership group operated several new and used automotive dealerships in Ontario under a variety of brands.
We prepared an expert report used by the parties to negotiate a transaction to purchase the shares of a minority shareholder. Our analysis included a review of dealership performance by location and brand and an assessment of dealership industry conditions, market ‘Blue Sky’ multiples and precedent transactions. Our valuation also reflected the value of real property assets held by the dealership group and from which the dealerships operated.
